Starting Salary:  £28,353 Rising to £32,907

South Wales Police is looking for a Yard manager, both Equestrian and Canine expertise are essential for this new and exciting role. The role requires leadership and management in the development of the unit to provide sustainable front line policing services. The post holder will manage a team of Animal Welfare Assistants, managing the welfare of staff and ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge to carry out their role. In addition responsibilities will include the management of all aspects of the yard environment including horse and canine care and managing welfare and health and safety of the site. Succession planning in relation to animals and a requirement to scope, design and lead on implementation opportunities to enhance financial savings and service provision mean that this role requires a motivated, enthusiastic and forward thinking individual.

 

The post holder will need to work closely with the Supervisor of the Dog Training School and Equine Instructors to ensure the smooth running of the yard, as well as working with other partners both within South Wales Police and externally from service providers and suppliers to facilitating visits to the site as part of South Wales Police’s community engagement.

 

Please be aware that if your current post is within the Public Service Centre, if you were employed after 1st February 2017 you must have completed 2 years’ tenured service before applying for any other roles.

 

This role is suitable for part time/job share workers.

 

Successful candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to RV Level.
